The Elevated Studio was selected as a pre-qualified design service provider for the Governor’s Office of Storm Recovery – Individual housing program. Through the Recon100 Initiative, a homeowner who meets the criteria set forth by the Program, receives our services at no cost; and has a new home built in place of their older damaged home. The new home is designed to meet the current number of bedrooms, bathrooms, square footage, and meet or exceed the current building, energy and HUD Green homes code.
W. Allen Engineering is working as a subconsultant on this project asked to provide required MEP design including fire protection. This included research of compliance with codes, regulations, and policies from the local municipalities, Federal, State and Program in regard to existing building footprint and size and requirements, such as sprinklers, that will be imposed by the required new construction. Verify compliance with HUD Housing Standards and HUD CPD Standards. Develop schematic design for home reconstruction based on its required Design Flood Elevation and to meet NYS resiliency goals, ADA provisions as required, the Local Building Code, HUD and the NYS Energy Code.
Project work for WAE on this began October 2016 and is scheduled to end July 2017
